maths

We follow the White Rose Mathematics Strategy at Wooldands which is derived from the 2014 National Curriculum.

Calculations are taught according to the 2017 Woodlands Primary Academy Calculation Policy which can be found below. We have a concrete, pictorial and abstract approach to Mathematics which allows pupils to manipulate number physically, moving on to drawing pictures and diagrams to represent their calculations before working in the abstract of number. This is a fluid approach allowing pupils to move back and forth as their needs require to help our pupils grasp the fundamental conceptual understanding of Mathematics.

The schemes of learning for each year group is broken down into each term and can be found in the links below.

If you have any questions about how we teach maths or how you can support your child at home please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher.
