This half term has proven to be an astonishing one, with unprecedented successes across our sports teams.
Our U11 girls put together a storming end to the season, beating Peterhouse 1-0, Hemsby 6-2 and winning the decider against Martham 2-0. These results meant the girls ended with a record of six wins and a draw, lifting the league title in dramatic fashion! They should be extremely proud of their outstanding achievement. In lower KS2, both of our Year 3/4 Girls teams performed admirably at the Norfolk Finals, finishing 12th and 15th out of the 32 best teams in the county. Well done girls!
Over to the boys, and the U11s secured the South league title by beating Peterhouse 4-0, Wroughton 3-1 and Hillside 2-1. The boys will now play the North league winners, Martham, on Friday 19 May, to see which school will win the overall league title. The game kicks off at 3:50 at North Denes Primary School – it would be wonderful to have other parents and children come along to support the team. The U10s have improved all year and won their first game, 4-2 against North Denes.
And if that was not enough success with their feet, an U10 Boys team and an U10 Girls team won their respective events in the Norfolk FA Futsal Festival this weekend to become Champions of Norfolk. The teams will now represent Norfolk in the East of England Championships in June! What a wonderful achievement.
Away from Football, and more success was found in our Tri Golf teams. A Year 2 Woodlands team won their event, and in the Year 4 equivalent we had one team finish 3rd and another team finish as Champions. The two winning teams will now compete in the Norfolk County Finals!
Participation levels in club are superb, with over 72% of children in KS2 participating in a Lunchtime club. Your support in encouraging your children to take advantage of all the clubs on offer is hugely appreciated. Of these clubs, the Mini World Cup on a Thursday is proving very exciting – Holland have taken the lead at the half way point!
The Year 6 Playmakers have excelled all year, and are now particularly enjoying running their new clubs for Year 3 children on a Monday (Cricket), Wednesday (Handball) and Friday (Boys Football) lunchtime. The new group of Year 5 Playmakers are two weeks into their training and thoroughly enjoying it.
The Sports School of the Year hoodies look great, and we look forward to putting in another order this Friday 19 May. Ask the office for a letter if you would like to place an order.
Among the upcoming events is the Year 5/6 Cricket competition this week. Thank you to the parents that came (and those that helped) in our in-house competition last week. Well done to the 30+ children that participated.
We hope some of you can join us on Friday for the U11 League Final,
