A mixed boys and girls squad travelled to Bowthorpe and qualified for Champions Day, with the ultimate prize a trip to play at Goodison Park, Everton.
The unique competition has girls playing the first half of the games, and boys playing the second half. The scores are then combined for a final score. The top team from each group would go through to Champions Day.
Woodlands were drawn into a tough group including strong Catton Grove and Dereham St Nicholas teams. In the first of 5 games Woodlands managed to win 4-1 against Magdalen Gates.
The day continued with a tough encounter against Catton Grove, but an outstanding performance by the girls put Woodlands up 4-0 at half time. The boys then managed to hold the lead and the game finished 4-2 in our favour.
The third game against a good-spirited Horning resulted in a 12-0 Woodlands victory, which they followed up by winning 4-1 against Dereham St Nicholas to make it 4 wins from 4.
The successful day ended with another 4 goals in a 4-0 victory over Beeston Primary. Woodlands will now do their best at Champions Day and see what happens.
Well done to all the children involved!
