woodlands win 2 in norfolk basketball tournament

Woodlands, the only school playing in the U12 Norfolk Basketball tournament, did themeselves proud.

Woodlands travelled to Dereham on Saturday to take part in a round of fixtures in an under 12 Norfolk Basketball competition against teams from over the county.

We had been invited based on the fantastic sports, particularly Basketball, work that goes on at the school. Playing against club Basketball teams and against many older children, Woodlands did themselves proud.

The first game, against 'Nets 1st team' ended in an unfortunate 8-6 defeat, but Woodlands had announced themselves in style by keeping up with a top club team. The following game was to be a more difficult 0-6 reverse, but the players managed to keep their heads up going into the final 3 games.

Woodlands turned on the style in game number 3 against 'County Upper's 2nd team' - winning the game 8-0. By this point Callum F's determination to get the ball and attack the basket was evident. Finley was supporting the team bringing the ball up the court and looking for killer passes in to our two forwards - Polly and Callum B.

Our 4th game ended in a 14-4 defeat against 'Nets 2,' with birthday boy Harlee standing out after some superb dribbling. Shay, Jamie and Evan were contributing to the team in a brilliant manner.

The final game ended in style with a 6-0 vicory against Iceni Storm - Olivia stealing the show with some fantastic dribbling to the basket. The team quite rightly left with their heads held high.

Woodlands hopes to return to compete in more of these tournaments after a wonderful day.
