boys come on strong in gysfa u11 tournament

A late surge from Woodlands was not quite enough to qualify for the Semi-Finals - but the boys can hold their heads up high for fighting back in the group to finish 3rd.

Woodlands were placed in a group of 6 with Hopton, Cliff Park, Hemsby, North Denes and Homefield.

The first two games against Cliff Park and Hopton saw Woodlands concede in the first minute and suffer a 1-0 defeat - slight lapses of concentration coupled with some unfortunate woodwork luck were the issue.

After these early games, though, the boys rallied and worked together as a wonderful team unit. Callum played superb in goal, ably assisted by captain Finley in defence. Lewis, Bobby and Shay worked tirelessly down the wings while George, Jamie and Callum threatened in central areas.

A 1-0 victory against North Denes really could have been 5 or 6 - but Callum's goal proved enough to get the first 3 points. Everything clicked against Hemsby in a 4-0 victory. Finally, a win against local rivals Homefield sealed 3 in a row and 3rd place in the group.

Congratulations to Hopton for winning the tournament.
